Looking up at the dive boat from 40 feet down. I was diving with sharks and almost missed this amazing sight. Sometimes you have to look up while diving!

Where America's Day Ends

Sunset over Apra Harbor, Guam. So much time spent at this spot, but the views always were great. This was shot before a night dive in these waters with my camera in the underwater setup.

Blue Lagoon

View from the bar of the Blue Lagoon dive resort in Chuuk State. That is a Japanese bunker left over from World War 2 in the foreground. The waters behind the trees hosted all the greatest ships of the Combined Fleet during the war. Many of those ships are now under those same waters.

Tarague Beach

The very pretty Tarague Beach on the northern tip of Guam. Great place to take the kids for the day or to just soak up the island spirit.

Island in the Sun

Shark Island way out near the atoll in Truk Lagoon. Those pretty blue waters are home to a good number of reef sharks, and that's where I was headed right after this was shot.

The Reef Flats

A calm view of the reef flats surrounding Guam. Very shallow and few waves inside the barrier reef. I love the reflection of the sky in the water.

Locked in Time

This is one of two Sherman tanks still in the water off they beach of Saipan. They were disabled during the invasion of Saipan in 1944. The battle on these beaches and that mountain in the background were some of the most savage in World War 2.

The Sands of Iwo Jima

These are the legendary black sands of Iwo Jima, with Mount Suribachi standing watch in the background. This peaceful beach was the scene of some unbelievable violence in 1945. We were privileged to be able to visit, as it is only open to a small number of visitors one day a year.

Go Into the Light

This is what it looks like swimming out of the Grotto on Saipan. You descend into a huge sinkhole and jump in, then through these caves out into the open ocean. One of my all time favorite dive sites. The cave exit is on the bottom and it's reflection on the surface of the sink hole is up top.

Eye of the Grotto

This is what you see looking up from the underwater cave in the Grotto on Saipan. I am about 30 feet underwater in a cave looking up into a giant sinkhole. You enter and exit the dive in the sinkhole, very cool except for lugging a hundred pounds of stuff up a few hundred slippery stairs in the jungle!
